Textured Parchment Sheets
Parchment for the inner sheet is treated with silicone to avoid sticking of the masa and is not printed.
Made from corn-yellow colored vegetable vellum, the wrap is textured and food-grade silicone-treated for easy-release. You can combine these with our outer sheets as well.
The benefits of parchment tamale paper for the inner sheet as a substitute for corn husk "hoja" wrapper include
-
uniformity and consistency
-
no soaking or cleaning required
-
no farm or field contamination
-
speed in processing and handling
-
less storage space
-
continuous availability
-
prices below that of (multiple) corn husks

Hint: a few corn husks can be added to the cooking water to give the taste and smell of corn husks to the parchment.

There are TWO kinds of inner sheet: you can use non-stick plain white parchment for an economical wrap (if the masa has a lot of lard or oil, even plain white parchment like the outer sheets can be used).... or TLC provides a unique premium textured tamale sheet as shown that closely resembles the traditional hojas...and the price is competitive with corn husks...
